As part of our commitment to the Make a Stand pledge—developed by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) in partnership with Women’s Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance—Cill Dara Housing Association affirms its commitment to supporting individuals who are experiencing, or at risk of, domestic abuse.
This policy outlines how Cill Dara Housing Association will take practical, supportive steps to assist anyone affected by domestic abuse. It applies to all tenants, including those residing with our tenants, and reflects our belief that housing providers have a critical role to play in identifying and responding to abuse.
Phillip Morrison-Gale, Chief Executive of Cill Dara Housing Association, stated:
“As a housing provider, we are well placed to recognise the signs of domestic abuse. It is essential that we take all reports of domestic abuse seriously and work positively and proactively with the victim to offer support. In addition, we will seek to assist perpetrators who wish to change their behaviour by helping them access the appropriate support and services.”
Domestic abuse is still a largely hidden crime, and measuring its true scale is difficult. It occurs in every community and affects people regardless of gender, age, disability, gender identity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, relationship status, or whether they are pregnant or parenting.
If you are a tenant affected by domestic abuse, please contact your housing officer in confidence to discuss how we can support you. We are here to listen, believe, and help.
