Accounts Assistant
- Salary: €18,000 – €20,000 per annum
Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week over 4 or 5 days - Location: Kildare Town
- Benefits: Up to 24 days annual leave pro-rata (excluding public holidays), Employer-matched Defined Contribution Pension Scheme (up to 5% matched) after 6-month probationary period.
Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Accounts Assistant is responsible for reviewing and reconciling accounts, processing payments to external partners, and maintaining accurate records of invoices and financial transactions. This role supports the organisation’s financial operations and ensures compliance with financial regulations while contributing to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rent Control & Lease Management:
- Support the rent control system, including rent calculations and annual rent reviews.
- Carry out cyclical rent reviews for long-term leased properties.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process payments, match invoices, and ensure timely payments to external partners.
- Process Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) for contractors.
- Liaise with the Revenue Commissioner regarding RCT, VAT, PAYE and PRSI matters.
- Financial Reporting & Auditing:
- Prepare semi-annual and year-end data files for accountants.
- Assist with liaising with auditors and support the Finance Manager and CEO in the external audit process.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and assist in preparing depreciation schedules.
- General Duties:
- Track, monitor, and record monthly payments.
- Ensure the accurate and up-to-date maintenance of IT systems and financial records.
- Provide support to the wider finance team as required and ensure that services align with regulatory frameworks.
- Contribute to performance targets and suggest improvements to deliver high-quality housing services that provide value for money.
- Ensure a seamless service for customers by liaising with Tenant Services colleagues.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute positively to team collaboration.
- Adhere to CDHA’s policies and procedures, ensuring a customer-focused approach to all duties.
- Undertake any other tasks that align with the role as needed.
Person Specification:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting administration role.
- Previous experience with accounting software; knowledge of Big Red Cloud is an advantage.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Intermediate level) and Outlook, with strong writing skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and take ownership of duties.
